Overview

The IT Solutions Manager will lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of technology solutions to address BrassCraft’s business needs. This role involves collaborating with various partners to understand requirements, evaluate technology options, and design comprehensive and scalable IT solutions that align with organizational objectives.

 

Principal functional responsibilities:
 

Strategy & Planning
In this role you will ensure that applications meet business requirements and systems goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify and resolve systems issues. You will review and analyze existing applications effectiveness and efficiency, and then develop strategies for improving these systems. Cultivate and disseminate knowledge of application-usage best practices. Design and implement short- and long-term strategic plans to ensure infrastructure capacity meets existing and future requirements. Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for system and infrastructure administration and usage. Participate in the development of IT strategies in collaboration with the executive team. Establish service level agreements with business units. Stay ahead of emerging technologies and trends.

 

Acquisition & Deployment
Our IT Solutions Manger will evaluate new technologies and make recommendations for adoption based on business value. Install, configure, and deploy new applications, systems software, products, and/or enhancements to existing applications throughout the enterprise. Collaborate with analysts, designers, and system owners in the testing of new software programs and applications. Analyze documentation and technical specifications of any new application under consideration to determine its intended functionality. Ensure that any new software integration into company systems meets functional requirements, system compliance, and interface specifications. Design, develop, and install application enhancements and upgrades. Coordinate feasibility studies for software and system products under consideration for purchase, and give advice based on findings. Liaise with company’s software suppliers for prompt rectification of any problems or emergencies. Prepare RFPs, bid proposals, contracts, scope of work reports, and other documentation for application and infrastructure projects and associated efforts. Collaborate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure application and infrastructure-specific products and services. Assist with the planning and deployment of infrastructure and application security measures.

 

Operational Management
We expect our Manager, IT Solutions to lead their team of IT professionals, providing guidance and support and championing a collaborative and innovative team culture. You will work closely with network administrators and software engineers to assist with quality assurance, program logic, and data processing. Develop and communicate training and documentation for end users, hold clinics as necessary, and other user-related activities. Develop, distribute, and coordinate in-depth end-user reviews for modified and new systems or applications. Lead and set priorities for the design, maintenance, development, and evaluation of all infrastructure systems, including LANs, WANs, Internet, intranet, security, wireless implementations, and so on. Define hardware and software standards in conjunction with owners and collaborators. Develop strategies for maintaining network infrastructure while testing performance and providing network performance statistics and reports. Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with BrassCraft’s executives, decision-makers, partners, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent activities. Ensure good IT asset management practices, including maintenance of component inventory and related documentation. Maintain relationships with vendors, ensuring service levels and contractual obligations are met. Manage operational costs; conduct near- and long-term financial forecasts for expanded functionality/user base. Develop and handle budgets for technology projects and identify cost-saving opportunities to optimize IT spending. Mitigate risk by ensuring the security and reliability of technology systems, facilitating knowledge transfer within the team and to end-users as well and maintaining detailed documentation for IT solutions, processes and procedures.

 

Position Requirements

 

Formal Education & Certification
Four-year college diploma or university degree in computer systems design or computer science, and 7 years equivalent work experience.
 

Knowledge & Experience
7+ years direct experience leading applications, infrastructure and/or systems management.
Demonstrated experience in leading all aspects of the direction, development, and implementation of software solutions.
Solid grasp of software development and quality assurance standard methodologies (SDLC).
Extensive experience with enterprise software applications.
Solid grasp of network and server operating systems.
Demonstrated project management skills and/or substantial exposure to project-based work structures.
Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
Knowledge of current IT trends, and emerging technologies.
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Experience with cloud computing and cybersecurity concepts.
Project Management Professional (PMP) or other relevant certifications. (preferred)

Work Conditions
Occasional evening and weekend work.
Sitting for extended periods of time.

Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
Physically able to participate in training sessions, presentations, and meetings.
Some travel may be required.
