Overview

Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE’s emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.

Job Summary
Ensures that DTE Electric’s assets are maximizing energy production and operating at their design point. Works both independently as well as with more experienced technicians, assisting with operating and maintaining utility scale solar photovoltaic electric systems.  Responsibilities also include monitoring, routine inspections, recordkeeping, and various other duties.
Key Accountabilities
Conducts planned maintenance activities as well as performs regular site inspections.
Troubleshoots, tests, and repairs equipment as required.
Performs remote diagnostic checks and equipment resets as needed.
Recommends enhancements and implements improvements to increase plant output.
Maintains records in computer-based work management program.
Lead warranty claim process, including documentation and submittals
Utilize remote troubleshooting tools and monitoring software.
Provides input to create and revise standard work procedures and operating instructions.
Prioritizes safety daily, in addition to leading site safety meetings, analyzing job hazards, and providing prompt resolution.
Assisting with emergency response, as well as working scheduled on-call shifts
Conducts battery energy storage system maintenance, including monitoring and site inspections.
Assisting in the planning and execution with facility tours & stakeholder visits on knowledge
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
High School diploma or GED and 3 years of electrical experience or experience in operation & maintenance of renewable energy projects.
Other Qualifications
Preferred:

Associate Degree in Electrical-related field
Solar Service Technician Certification
North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) Certification
Knowledge of plant level controls and low voltage equipment
Knowledge of electrical safety procedures
Familiar with insulation resistance testing, IV Curve Tracing and common electrical testing procedures
 

Other Requirements:

Ability to travel to other locations
Must have valid driver’s license
Proficiency reading technical specifications documents, site plans and electrical schematics
Comfortable working with up to 1,500VDC and 1,000VAC
Basic data acquisition and networking systems knowledge
Strong interpersonal, analytical, logical reasoning, written and verbal communication skills
Keeping work vehicles, tools and equipment in good working condition
General computer proficiency
Comfortable working outdoors in inclement weather
Must be able to push, pull and lift tools and equipment weighing up to 75 lbs
