Overview

The Materials Engineer provides specialized technical support and solutions for project teams, operations and maintenance. Understands and implements Most Effective Technology (MET), work process, tools and industry best practices. The Materials Engineer also provides technical support and expertise for equipment inspection, repair, alteration and Dows Fixed Asset Integrity program.

 

Responsibilities:

Provide failure analysis, material characterization, and corrosion testing support to Technical Expertise and Support (TES), Operations, and R&D
Provide material selection support to TES, Operations, and R&D
Provide support on corrosion prevention methods, including coating, insulation and cathodic protection
Perform fitness for service, Risk Based Inspection (RBI), and repair evaluations
Provide support on gasket selection and flange connections protocols
 

Qualifications:

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant ranking
A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process

Work at heights, climb stairs and ladders
Work in tight and close in spaces
Wear all required personal protective equipment
Work in an area of intense or continuous noise
Work in an area with hazardous materials
 

Preferred Skills:

A degree discipline in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Material Science / Metallurgical Engineer
A master’s degree or higher
Manufacturing experience in the Chemical Industry
